Auxiliaries, Associations, and Commissions
Auxiliaries
Auxiliaries are bodies established by LBMEC to support the various programs and policies of the Convention. Auxiliaries are headed by Directors.
- There are four Auxiliaries:
- Liberia Baptist Sunday School- exists to promote the Sunday school ministry of LBMEC through the local Baptist congregations our member churches.
- Liberia Baptist Women’s Missionary Union exists to promote the women’s ministry of LBMEC through the local Baptist congregations of member churches. This auxiliary shall supervise the Sunbeam and Girl’s Auxiliary (GA) of LBMEC.
- Liberia National Baptist Men’s Fellowship exists to promote the men’s ministry of LBMEC through the local Baptist congregations. This auxiliary shall supervise the Royal Ambassadors (RA) of LBMEC.
- Liberia Baptist Youth Assembly- exists to promote the youth ministry of LBMEC through the local Baptist congregations of LBMEC
Associations
Associations exist to promote fellowship and coordination of Baptist Churches and their members to enhance the growth and development of the Baptist denomination in Liberia.
Associations also exist to promote continued training in leadership within members churches. For the purpose of strengthening each other, Associations are divided up by counties in terms of proximity, strength and size. There are five Associations:
- Providence Baptist Association – Montserrado, Bomi, Margibi, Grand Cape Mount, and Gbarpolu Counties
- Macedonia Baptist Association– Bong and Lofa County
- Calvary Baptist Missionary Association– Grand Bassa and Rivercess Counties
- Anthony Jonah Baptist Association- Nimba and Grand Gedeh Counties
- Eliza David George Baptist Association– Sinoe, Maryland, grand kru and Rivergee Counties
Commissions & Committees
The President of the Convention, in consultation with the Executive Committee and the Board of Managers, shall appoint the following.
The President of the Convention, in consultation with the Executive Committee and the Board of Managers shall appoint the following as follow:
- Evangelism and Church Growth Commission- charged with the responsibility of projecting programs for church planting across the country. The commission shall execute these programs in collaboration with the County Vice Presidents. The Commission is headed by a Director – Rev. Varney Freeman of First Baptist Church, Mambo, Grand Cape Mount County
- Education Commission- charged with the responsibility of stimulating interests and promoting the educational goals of LBMEC in providing both Christian and secular education. This commission is headed by a chairman – Deacon Francis Horton of St. Simon Baptist Church, Monrovia.
- Liberia Baptist Investment and Development Commission- responsible for overseeing all LBMEC’s properties and is accountable to the Board of Managers through the Executive Committee of LBMEC. The Commission shall collaborate with governing bodies of institutions to ensure cohesion, transparency, maximum potential and accountability. The Commission shall also go out to seek investment and development initiatives for the good and growth of LBMEC. It shall formulate policies and plans with regards to the use of all Convention’s assets.
